Dressing The City

 

The charity Oxfam helps people in various ways. One being providing clean drinking water to under developed countries, to the many people who are not able to access clean drinkable water. To bring  awareness of Oxfam's efforts in the east London area, A water device was to be placed in three location around the Spitalfields area. 

The water device was created to collect rain water which would then be filtered and reused for hot and cold beverages.  the design was inspired by a east London fashion designer Larrissa Hadjio for her structural shaped bags. The design was further developed from an origami water bomb.  Inside the device, the public can enjoy beverages while viewing the water filtering process through the devices transparent roof. The public will also have the opportunity to purchase a fashionable reusable water bottle.

Dressing The City- project 2

 

 The second part of the project was located at 106 commercial street, as Oxfam is the client it was important that their charitable efforts be the main feature within the functionality of the building. The concept for this project was established from the recycling of unwanted clothes. Unwanted clothing would be brought into the building via an external lift, where clothes would then be re-designed in a workshop and resold. While entering the building the public would be met by a coffee bar, and an interactive art wall which members of the public would be asked to leave a loved piece of clothing on the wall to signify a basic necessities that many go without.
